American Society of Phlebotomy Technicans/ASPT

The American Society of Phlebotomy

The ASPT, founded in 1983, is one of the oldest certifying agencies of Phlebotomy. While testing and certification of qualified phlebotomists is a core competency of the organization, other services available to members of the ASPT include: educational materials for at home study, industry specific newsletters and announcements, and access to valuable cross-training programs.

Qualifications for ASPT National Certification Exams are as follows:

1 - Completion of one full year working in Phlebotomy - OR -
2 - Completion of six continuous months working in Phlebotomy - OR -
3 - A letter of recommendation from a Health Care Supervisor stating that part of your work was to collect blood specimens regularly. This letter must be submitted with membership application, - OR -
4 - A successful completion of an accredited Phlebotomy training course, to include at least 100 documented successful venipunctures and 5 documented successful skin punctures. - AND -
5 - Current ASPT membership.
